When you install a traditional optimizer, the little black box that you clip on the panel, you wonder, what it does, how well it performs and whether you need it or not. But you will not get an answer because the device remains silent. It could even be damaged and not inject any power – and you would never find out about it.
The truth is that in a solar installation, you don’t need an optimizer for many panels. You need an optimizer for panels which may be in the shadow when other panels are still well exposed to the sun or when panels have a different orientation with respect to the sun (angle). With Photon Edge optimizers you can read out the instant data about power generation and optimization for each panel with a regular smart phone and you can also upload the history at different time scales. If you see that a panel is always running at 100% optimization you can remove the optimizer and mount it on a different panel which is less exposed to the sun.
Cutting Edge Technology
The unit features a patented circuit with 6 FETS for lowest heat dissipation. Most products on the market rely on a filling compound to extract the heat. However, such a unit cannot be repaired and a wireless communication is not possible. Photon Edge’s heat dissipation is so low that it doesn’t need such a filling compound. In addition it uses a constant ripple technique to further decrease the heat generation.
Anti-Obsolence Guarantee
Unlike other products the firmware of the PhotonEdge optimizer can be updated over Bluetooth with a smartphone (on the air). Just like almost all the modern devices like routers, inverters, etc. If one day a different behaviour is needed the device can be updated even without opening the enclosure or unmounting the unit from the panel.
Compatibility with any brand
With the photon edge optimizer, no special inverter is needed. Some manufacturers of optimizers with built in communication require the use of their inverter. And in addition they require each panel to be fitted with an optimizer. Photon Edge BT LE is compatible with any type of inverter since the communication is wireless. In addition you only need to fit panels who need an optimizer.
